Going into the LCS, there were a couple options out there: National league: Phillies - strong local fan base, not too much national support, good team, not a huge draw Dodgers - it's LA, it's Manny, etc. etc. American League: Tampa - nice underdog story, almost no fan support except for the bandwag... read more

If you think about it can a NL team keep a guy like David Ortiz around if he can't play the field? Since most pitchers can't hit anyway there should be no advantage the other way.
